"The Claresholm Staffie Walk 2010"

"Come walk in the 2010 Staffie Walk in Claresholm AB. Let’s show everyone that Staffies are not a threat to society, one small town at a time. BSL is not the way to go.
I am hoping to make this Staffie Walk even bigger and better that last year. I have started to plan the Walk early in hopes of letting as many people know well in advance the date the Walk will be held. This year the Walk will be on August 14. It is hard to believe this will be our 5th year. I started to think about the first year. If I am remembering correctly there were maybe 10 of us and 6 dogs. It is hard to believe that it has grown so quickly. Last year we had 46 people and 26 dogs. People came from Medicine Hat, Carstairs, Calgary, Sundre and many other places. It was awesome to meet all the new people and their Staffies.
I always find it so interesting to see all of us that walked in the parade sitting in my back yard talking, eating and enjoying the day. It is always an awesome day. So I hope more people will want to join us this year. I must be honest I never thought the Walk would grow so quickly and be supported by the Staffie owners the way it has been.
I want to thank everyone that helps make this Walk great. It truly is the people that take the time out of their busy schedules to drive to a little town, that most have never even heard of, and walk in the Staffie Walk who make it so special. Each year our dogs show everyone how great they are. They behave as great ambassadors for the bully breeds. Each year many of the dogs on the sidelines are barking and behaving badly. The Staffies pay no attention to the misbehaving dogs.
After the Walk there will be a BBQ in my back yard with lots of food, great conversation about the breed and
awesome people. It is an opportunity to meet other Staffie owners also.
This year we will have our Staffie float, throw candy to the children watching the parade, maybe even have balloons with a Staffie head on them(I am working on this) to throw to the kids, door prizes, Staffie t-shirts and a BBQ. I hope to see you as many of you as possible this year.
I encourage all owners of the bully breeds to educate people in their community and be breed ambassadors.

"Specialty Announcement"
This year The Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club of Canada is celebrating 45 continuous years as a Club with the Canadian Kennel Club. No small feat for a breed club!
Our National Specialty will be held in conjunction with the Cornwall shows at Ferrans Point on Hwy 2 (just west of the 2008 Specialty) on Saturday, September 4, 2010. We are also holding a Booster Show on the Sunday – the day after the Specialty.
The venue for the Cornwall Shows (as they are know) offers lots of camping with electrical and water hook ups, abeach for swimming and good ring conditions. Obedience trials are also offered at the shows as well as a Puppy Sweepstakes and Junior Handling Competitions. This show runs right after the Stormont Dundas & Glengarry shows (SD&G) and is only minutes from that location.
Once again, our sponsor for the specialty is Tri-Natural Products and our thanks go to them for their continued support.
Our distinguished judge is Mrs. Sylvia Barkey for the Specialty with Mrs. Joy Picozzi as our judge for the Veteran Sweepstakes and Junior Handling.
All other regular and un-official classes will be offered at the Specialty along with Award of Merit.
Please, for all that will be entering or just coming to watch – get involved. This is after all a Specialty to showcase our breed – YOUR breed!
